Starting a New Project
So, you want to start a new project at RealMacForge, huh? That's great!
Since RealMacForge is an open-source portal for RealMacSoftware products, the projects here are dedicated to supporting and complementing software such as RapidWeaver and ButtonBuilder.
There are only two small requirements:
- Your project must be related to RealMacSoftware products.
- Your project must be open source, as defined by the Open Source Initiative's definition of Open Source.
That's it! Since we're not a big open-source hosting repository such as SourceForge and we don't expect to see new projects every day, there isn't an automated way of starting a new project (yet). So, please contact AndrePang if you're interested in hosting your project here, he'll be happy to help you out.
What do you get with Realmac Forge project?
You get a few facilities when you start a project here:
- Your own tree in the Subversion repository.
- A dedicated Wiki page for your project that can serve as a homepage (although this isn't a big deal, since people are mostly free to edit the Wiki anyway ;-).
- Two mailing lists: one for users (e.g. myproject@lists.realmacforge.com), and one for developers (e.g. myproject-dev@lists.realmacforge.com).
- Your own Trac component, so that you can add new tickets specifically for your project.
Thanks for your interest! The rest of the Realmac Forge developers hope to hear from you soon :-).
